Driving Support for a Vital Cause: Charity Golf Day Raises Funds for Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service

HunterNet was proud to support the recent Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Charity Golf Day, bringing together over 120 registered players from across the Hunter and Central Coast business communities for a day of connection, friendly competition, and fundraising for a vital cause.

Held at the picturesque Cypress Lakes Resort, the event offered the perfect backdrop for a meaningful day on the green. The energy and enthusiasm from all involved highlighted the strength of our regional networks and the shared commitment to giving back.

Attendees were also moved by a powerful presentation from Christie Dawes, Paralympian and local advocate, who shared her deeply personal story of resilience. For Christie, the sudden passing of her father marked the beginning of a year that would change her life forever.

In April 1990, 10-year-old Christie was travelling with her mother Roslyn and sister Kylie on an Easter holiday when a tragic accident at Rainbow Flat – a notorious stretch of the Pacific Highway – left her with life-changing injuries. Despite the trauma and long recovery, Christie went on to represent Australia at multiple Paralympic Games and is a passionate supporter of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Her story was a reminder of how quickly lives can change and the critical role that emergency response services play in our region. You can watch her video here: Christie Dawes – My Story
