HunterNet Infrastructure & Asset Management Forum – Simtables for Community Empowerment
Simtables for Community Empowerment
The Hunter Joint Organisation has purchased two Simtables with a grant from the Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund (BCRRF).
Simtables are sophisticated “digital sand tables” that display spatial data including high quality models of natural hazards such as bushfires and floods. Initially, they will be used in workshops across the Hunter to improve community awareness of these hazards and how best to respond. However, the Simtables will have application in numerous areas, including to better understand and plan for the risks natural hazards pose to various assets. They are a potential resource in infrastructure planning and development.
You can read more about the Simtables for Community Empowerment program at the Hunter JO website.
Come along as Chris Dart from HJO demonstrates the concept using a mobile version of a Simtable at HunterNet. The concept of this forum is akin to passing trade demos at an expo: as such, Chris will be available for demonstration until midday to maximise flexibility of attendance as well as more one-on-one demonstration time. Refreshments will be available during the morning.
