This quarter, HunterNet Career Connections has been busy showcasing the real stories behind apprenticeships and traineeships through a series of filmed features and social posts that shine a light on emerging talent, passionate hosts and the diverse workplaces that are building the future workforce.

Across the video series, apprentices and trainees from across the Hunter have stepped into the spotlight to share their journeys on site and on camera. From Ben and Nicole’s hands-on work as Fitter Machinist Apprentices to Jye and Sarah powering through electrical installations, these videos bring to life the skills and determination taking shape in workshops and industry environments. Each clip gives an up-close look at what day-to-day trade life really involves – learning, problem-solving and earning while you learn!

On LinkedIn and across HCC’s social channels, recent posts have amplified these voices further. Mechanical engineering apprentice Ilsa, hosted by GOSS Engineering, shared her growth from toolroom tasks to leadership moments, even appearing on HCC’s International Women’s Day panel to inspire others

These filming and story-sharing initiatives do more than document work, they celebrate young people stepping into skilled careers, and the host companies providing real opportunities to grow. Whether it’s electrical, fabrication, maritime or engineering pathways, each shared moment underscores the importance of mentorship, hands-on experience and showcasing talent beyond the classroom.

Watch this space and our socials for more inspiring stories from apprentices and hosts across the Hunter region!
