Our Maritime Educational Pathways Program (EPP) went off with a bang! 💥 This first-of-its-kind initiative provided formal training in essential maritime skills, equipping students with key units of competency. Over the course of the program, participants gained valuable abilities such as applying survival tactics for vessel abandonment, fire-fighting procedures aboard vessels, and survival craft use at sea. These transferable skills will serve students across a variety of trades! 💪
The program kicked off with great energy as the first two days were a blast! The sun was shining, and the smiles on the students’ faces said it all. 😊
High school students from the Lake Macquarie Region, including Morisset High School, Cardiff High School, Glendale Technology High School, Lake Macquarie High School, Hunter Sports High School, West Wallsend High School, and Toronto High School, took part in hands-on training at Charlestown Pool. They practiced essential survival skills, including vessel abandonment techniques using a training life raft.
A huge thank you goes out to our participating schools, MAST, and the EPP for making this groundbreaking program such a success!
