Innovative space Puzzle pursued with Precision
In January 2023, an email passed between two Australian owned and operated aerospace companies. Australia’s largest satellite stack had launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on board a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. A proof of concept constellation of 5 Air Traffic Management (ATM) satellites was operating as intended in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Skykraft were one step closer to making global air travel smoother and more efficient. Puzzle Precision were proud to have assembled and soldered the printed circuit boards (PCBs) for the Australian designed, next generation of space-based air traffic management capability.
“Skykraft chose Puzzle Precision based on their strong reputation for high-reliability electronics assembly. Puzzle have since delivered consistent quality at scale that combined with their regular, supportive communication has made an invaluable difference to our constellation development.”
Andrew Gibbs Electrical Engineer for Skykraft.
“Skykraft were responsive with their testing and in most cases, we received authority to continue production within 24 hours of Skykraft receiving the boards.”
Keith Buck Production Manager for Puzzle Precision.
A Hunternet member since 2013, Puzzle Precision manufacture in Newcastle NSW. They provide build to print electronics manufacturing services to defence, scientific and space markets. They support high performance electronics projects, where solder joint quality contributes to reliability and performance on demand. They work with low volume, high value designs that require strictly controlled processes to produce solder joints that are robust, compliant and uniform.
“We are proud to support Skykraft with sovereign manufacturing facilities as they seek to rapidly design, manufacture and deliver an enhanced satellite platform capable of supporting a wide variety of applications including Earth Observation and secure satellite communication capabilities.”
Kescia Ball Business Development Manager for Puzzle Precision.
Since 1994, Puzzle Precision has had the honour of contributing to a number of innovative Australian capabilities. In their experience, however elusive world-first capabilities may seem, the goal can often be reached through close working relationships and a focus on quality.
