Creating the right support foundations for industry
Our Infrastructure and Asset Management (IAM) cluster was set up in 2018 to focus on infrastructure, construction and programs requiring asset management. Importantly, without significant infrastructure being developed in the Hunter region, opportunities for industry will be limited.
We have this knowledge and representation within our network of infrastructure asset management companies and can support all member businesses in this critical area, including identifying infrastructure project opportunities in the Hunter and Australia-wide.
Business NSWIn 2021, NSW committed to spending $80 billion on new economic infrastructure. A large proportion of the economic and social infrastructure developed will be contracted out to the private sector. This is providing huge opportunities for the region and our members.
Our IAM cluster goals
- Showcase emerging project opportunities in the IAM sector so that members can pursue collaborations
- Share knowledge and insights on trends and horizon changes in IAM so that members can position themselves for future relevance.
- Promote member capabilities to industry sector primes
- Develop working groups engaged in supply chain participation projects
- Engage new and existing infrastructure providers and members

Attend our upcoming IAM events
To facilitate our work, we hold a range of events including forums – which include a presentation, a review of major project opportunities, and networking – as well as dinners, awards nights and conferences.
Our IAM cluster at work
In early 2020, we identified that Daracon was awarded the head contract for the first phase in constructing Newcastle Airport’s initiative, the Astra Aerolab. We approached the airport, a Patron Member, to seek help proposing Daracon present to the HunterNet members a project brief on the works for the first phase. We also provided clear paths on how interested members could get involved with the project.
We facilitated one-on-one breakout sessions immediately following the presentation, allowing members to pitch their offerings and meet those they might eventually provide proposals/tenders to. In some cases, our personnel accompanied the members during the discussions.
For many, this personal one-on-one was the first contact in developing a relationship with a new customer. Some members who had previously not done business with Daracon got to meet key staff and eventually won work with the project.
Members told us they couldn’t have had such an opportunity had we not identified it and facilitated the introduction and connection to the right people.
