ControlX, an established Hunter-based industrial automation company, has announced the development of JasperNode, a new AI product designed to fundamentally change how staff interact with industrial machinery.
For decades, modifying or troubleshooting industrial equipment has required specialised programming knowledge. This reliance on a small pool of experts creates operational delays and bottlenecks, a challenge made more acute by the current skilled labour shortage in the manufacturing sector.
JasperNode, the new initiative from ControlX, confronts this issue directly. The AI tool allows operators, maintenance crews, and production managers to communicate with industrial control systems using plain English commands and queries. Instead of writing code, a user could instruct the system: “After each batch, reduce the mixer speed to 80 RPM”, or ask, “Boost up the oven temperature only when there is a product on the conveyor”.
“We see a clear need to empower the existing workforce. JasperNode is being designed to bridge the gap between human intent and machine execution”, said Alex Sharikov, Director at ControlX. “Our clients have deep process knowledge. We are building the tool that allows them to apply that knowledge directly, enhancing their agility and ability to innovate on the factory floor without needing a programmer for every adjustment.”
