On Monday evening we had the HunterNet Board meeting, and it was our pleasure to hear from Ross Bingham and Amy Osborne of the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Ronald McDonald Houses are located within footsteps of major hospitals across Australia. There Houses provide a homely and inviting place to stay for parents, guardians, carers and their siblings while their child is undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital. The Newcastle House gives seriously ill children the best gift of all – their families. There warm and supportive home-away-from-home provides the whole family with a comfortable place to stay and peace of mind, knowing they can stay together and close to their child at John Hunter Children’s Hospital.

Over 600 families a year stay here in Newcastle. The comfortable family bedrooms and self-contained units provide a homely experience to families when they need it most, while the common areas allow for shared journeys and unwavering support.

HunterNet is keen to provide a platform for RMHC Newcastle to show what it provides in our region, and we have invited them on as a Member. We hope our Members and Hosts will be able to support them going forward.
