A few weeks ago, Workforce Australia ran the Tomago “Local Jobs Crawl”, a Workforce Australia Local Jobs initiative, funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

22 motivated Workforce Australia Participants, alongside Training Services NSW, HunterNet Career Connections, Grahame Irwin and Alex Cuttiford visited ATB Morton, WesTrac Cat, Ampcontrol and TW Woods, 4 large employers in the Hunters Tomago industrial area. The participants were able to meet with the employers, hear about the opportunities and apprenticeship programs available, walk through work sites, view workers in action, and get a feel for what it would be like to work across these organisations. Participants left feeling motivated and confident that they too could work for one of these fantastic employers.

The participants have since been supported with their applications to opportunities available on the day, and some were fast tracked given their involvement in the initiative.

Workforce Australia give thanks to all participating employers and all that made the day a success! They are looking forward to rolling out “Local Jobs Crawl’s” across the Hunter in other large employment hubs!
