Are you ready to take the first step towards a rewarding career in workplace safety? Poly Pipe Australia, in partnership with HunterNet Career Connections, is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team as a Safety Officer Trainee. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety over a 24-month traineeship.
Our host company Poly Pipe was founded in 2006, where it became an industry specialist in the manufacturing of Polyethylene pipe systems for use in Data, water, gas, waste and energy. Located in Lake Macquarie, Poly Pipe has a modern extrusion and purpose-built manufacturing facility fitted with the latest equipment and has a high attention to detail, renowned for their quality assurance with all its products.

Position Duties:
- Assist in implementing and maintaining Environment, Health, Safety & Quality (EHSQ) systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments under supervision.
- Support incident investigations, including documentation and corrective actions.
- Participate in internal audits, compliance checks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain EHSQ records, registers, and compliance databases (training, PPE, plant, chemical).
- Help facilitate inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions.
- Promote a strong safety culture by engaging with employees and encouraging safe work practices.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, safety communications, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure alignment of safety and quality objectives.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the Safety Advisor or General Manager.

- Strong interest in environment, health, safety, and quality within a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Basic problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Understanding of basic manufacturing processes and workplace safety (desirable).
