The Hunter Transmission Project has reached a significant milestone, with the NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces granting planning approval following a comprehensive and independent assessment by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

With the Conditions of Approval now in place, the project will move into detailed design and planning, bringing it one step closer to delivery. As one of the region’s major infrastructure projects, this next phase is expected to create future opportunities for local businesses, suppliers and the skilled workforce across the Hunter.

For HunterNet members, now is an important time to stay informed about the project’s progress and consider what the next stages may mean for your organisation, supply chain or future capability.

Members can access the Conditions of Approval through the NSW Government Major Projects website by searching for Hunter Transmission Project. We also encourage businesses to review EnergyCo’s July 2026 Project Update, which provides an overview of what the approval means and outlines the next steps for delivery.

HunterNet will continue to keep members informed of key project developments, procurement opportunities and industry engagement activities as the project progresses.
